Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 (February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a small community that lies on that portion of the island of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. Most people who do not know they mistakenly believe it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward of the city of Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there although her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa in Ontario. She had a dream to become a professional dancer, but due to an explosive expansion, she outgrew every one of her dancing colleagues. According to an article in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. After I outgrew the male dancers, I quit. Some former dancers switch to acting, and in Brugel's case it was a nudge from one of her drama teachers at the high school which pushed her into the right direction. The teacher encouraged her to take part in her school's production. She auditioned and was eventually cast as the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. It was her turn to be awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to study at York University's theatre Program, where she graduated on the 20th of January, 2000. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Through the years since then, Brugel has landed roles in over 60 shows on both small and large screens receiving the greatest attention when she landed the role of Rita on the award-winning TV series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the only Canadian participant on the show in Season 1 of the series and not seen much.
